Job Summary The Splunk System Administrator will manage, maintain and support an enterprise level Splunk Cloud installation. You will act as Splunk Subject Matter Expert (SME), configure and maintain Splunk, analyze performance data, and provide insights to improve monitoring of Medline applications.Job DescriptionThis is a Work-From-Home position. You will be required to be on site 1 day per month.As part of the Service Management Office, your primary goal is availability. In your role as Splunk SME, you will identify and help resolve application issues and outages, train team members and users on using Splunk, and work with Splunk to identify, report on, and resolve issues. You will also maintain a working knowledge of competing APM products in the industry to help ensure Medline is taking a best-in-class approach to observability.Major ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, maintain, and support Splunk as a critical application in an enterprise environmentInstall, configure, and update Splunk agents on Linux and Windows serversManage and perform preventative maintenance tasks including OS and application patchingInstall and maintain Splunk apps like DB Connect and SC4S to improve Splunk usabilityCorrelate data between monitoring applications, including Splunk, Logicmonitor, and AppdynamicsCreate, maintain, and use dashboards to prevent outages and increase availabilityCollaborate with teams within I.T. to implement monitoring and processes that support business goalsWork with the NOC and application teams to investigate incidentsAdvocate, demonstrate, and champion the use of monitoring capabilities and ITSM process within MedlineEngage and work with software and hardware vendors to remediate identified issues and defectsDefine and implement standards for monitoring of infrastructure and applicationsUnderstand and adhere to ITIL best practices like incident management, change management, event management, and problem managementBe a champion of best practices for high availability of infrastructure and applicationsSome weekend work is requiredMinimum Job Requirements3+ years supporting Splunk Enterprise or Splunk Cloud in a multi-application environmentStrong problem isolation, resolution, analytical and diagnostic skills3+ years of experience on an operations team in a demanding fast-paced environmentDemonstrated experience with IT Service Management processes, including incident management and change management.General knowledge of Windows and Linux system administrationKnowledge of other APM monitoring tools and industry trendsGood communication skills both written and verbal.Preferred Job RequirementsBachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Splunk Enterprise Certified Administrator or Splunk Enterprise Certified ArchitectITIL Foundations (V3) certification or higherExperience with VMware virtual server infrastructure, including Linux and Windows system administrationGeneral knowledge of Azure Cloud and IT networksMedline Industries, LP, and its subsidiaries, offer a competitive total rewards package, continuing education & training, and tremendous potential with a growing worldwide organization.The anticipated salary range for this position: $85,280.00 - $123,760.00 AnnualThe actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible.
