Job Description:Job Title: Critical Facility Technician Position SummaryThe Critical Facility Technician ensures the smooth, efficient, and profitable operation of assigned data center facilities. This role is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all required work while maintaining the highest standards of customer satisfaction and operational uptime.Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and operate all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment to peak efficiency.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and respond to emergency issues.
  • Ensure all work in mission-critical spaces is completed with high quality and zero customer impact.
  • Train and mentor other technicians; transfer technical knowledge effectively.
  • Apply safe working practices including lockout/tagout, SDS, and good housekeeping.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits and systems.
  • Use hand tools and test equipment to install, repair, and maintain equipment per safety guidelines and MOPs.
  • Conduct daily facility walk-throughs to monitor power, temperature, humidity, and alarms.
  • Operate and monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS) and follow site SOPs/MOPs.
  • Implement and maintain site-specific procedures and standards.
  • Understand the impact of equipment failures on interconnected systems and overall infrastructure.
  • Lead emergency response drills and execute Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).
  • Schedule and regulate planned/unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Maintain compliance with building codes and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate and oversee vendor activities during maintenance and emergency events.
  • Review and update MOPs/SOPs to reflect current safety and operational standards.
  • Generate and review field service reports for internal and vendor activities.
  • Support and train CET1/2 staff on equipment maintenance and operations.
  • Operate facility systems to ensure maximum availability and reliability.
  • Recommend process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Respond to emergencies and customer concerns promptly.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures and critical facility work rules.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 8-10 years supporting mission-critical environments.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Licensing: Electrical/Mechanical Journeyman's license preferred.
  • Security Clearance: Not required but a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Hands-on expertise in either electrical or mechanical systems, with competence in the other.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • OEM factory training or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and CMMS systems.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders/stairs, and working in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Exposure to moderate noise, dust, and temperature extremes (heat/cold).
  • Regular rooftop and facility walkthroughs.
  • Occasional travel for meetings, training, and public relations.
