
Building-based Substitute Teacher

- Assume all duties of the regular classroom teacher.
- Follow the lesson plan(s) provided by the classroom teacher.
- Maintain normal classroom routines.
- Provide direct and indirect instruction.
- Prepare students adequately for all required assessments.
- Provide an inviting, exciting, innovative, learning environment.
- Engage in effective and appropriate classroom management.
- Serve as advisors to students.
- Meet IEP regulations.
- Develop lesson plans that ensure the attainment of Common Core Learning Standards and the additional specific grade-by-grade learning standards set forth in the charter, as applicable for long term assignments.
- Coordinate lesson plans with other teachers to maximize possibilities for teaching similar topics in the same general time frame, thus reinforcing student knowledge on an interdisciplinary basis, as applicable for long term assignments.
- Create long and short-term planning addressing individual needs of students, as applicable for long term assignments.
- Evaluate students' progress, as applicable for long term assignments.
- Prepare monthly individual student achievement reports for parents, as applicable for long term assignments.
- As applicable, directs teacher assistants in working with small groups of children and works together with teacher assistants to address individual needs of students.
- Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate by the CAO and/or designee.
