The Director of Finance will oversee all accounting and financial control functions for the organization, reporting directly to the COO. This leader is responsible for compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, managing financial operations across multiple entities, and providing strategic financial planning. The role includes supervising finance staff, managing relationships with external financial partners, and ensuring accurate reporting for seven affiliated businesses under the group.Responsibilities
- Supervise all operations of the finance and accounting department
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal, and state financial regulations
- Oversee AR, AP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, tax reporting, and internal audits
- Develop and maintain internal accounting policies and controls
- Prepare and present financials for seven entities under the group
- Make finance department staffing decisions and conduct evaluations
- Lead disciplinary processes in accordance with company policy
- Establish metrics for evaluating company efficiency and effectiveness
- Coordinate with external partners: PDM CPA (year-end reviews, sales tax), CNB (banking, covenant filings), GMGS (insurance), Insurance carriers (post-period audits), CTI (R&D tax credit filings)
- Lead and review financial planning and budget management
- Provide strategic guidance to senior management based on financial performance and risk analysis
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of accounting and financial management experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP, finance principles, and state/federal regulations
- Managerial experience, including evaluating and directing staff
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
- Advanced analytical, reporting, and pivot table skills
- Ability to manage multiple teams and projects under tight deadlines
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft 365 Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
- Thorough understanding of ERP systems
- CPA certification or MBA
- Strong interpersonal, diplomacy, and leadership skills
- Experience coordinating with external financial, banking, and insurance entities
- Experience managing consolidated financials for multi-entity structures
