Our client is seeking a highly motivated Controls Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will work closely with the Lead I&C Engineer to provide support for a variety of testing activities, including instrument and control system design, prototype development, and commissioning. The ideal candidate will bring experience in laboratory experimentation, first-of-a-kind test stand design, and the safe operation of specialized equipment in complex environments.Location: Everett, WA

Benefits: Three insurance levels, 401K + match, sick leave, and working with a great company!US citizens and those authorized to work in the US are encouraged to apply.*Work sponsorship is not available at this time.ResponsibilitiesProgram, commission, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems across multiple platforms and control systems in an R&D environment.Develop control system specifications based on process flow diagrams (PFDs) and process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).Assist the Responsible Test Engineer during the shakedown and testing of I&C systems.Revise procedures to ensure alignment with HMI implementation, in collaboration with system operators and designers.Evaluate commercially available control systems for cost, scalability, and suitability within the testing program.Contribute to continuous learning and apply industry best practices to enhance engineering design quality. QualificationsB.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) with 3+ years of relevant experience; advanced degree a plus.Experience with industrial instrumentation, automation, or robotics.Background in experimental hardware, instrumentation design, and engineering best practices.Familiarity with data acquisition hardware/software (e.g., National Instruments, Siemens).Experience in designing and programming advanced control systems (SCADA, DAQ, PLC, DCS).Knowledge of I&C systems with multiple I/O signals from diverse sensors.Field experience in commissioning, troubleshooting, and testing electrical/I&C systems.Experience in high-temperature (>300°C) I&C systems a plus.Qualified electrical worker certification a plus.Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Estimated Compensation Range: $50.00-$70.00 per hour. This range represents the estimated low end and high end of the compensation range for this position.
