
Marine Pipefitter

- Interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and schematics for piping systems (fuel, ballast, cooling water, fire main, hydraulics, etc.)
- Plan and lay out pipe systems, routes, and supports
- Select and prepare materials, fittings, and tools for job tasks
- Cut, bend, thread, bevel, and prepare pipe sections (carbon steel, copper-nickel, stainless steel, etc.)
- Fit and assemble pipes, valves, flanges, brackets, and hangers
- Install and align pumps, valves, and machinery connections
- Use tack welding or brazing where permitted for temporary or final assembly
- Install and secure piping systems within ship compartments, machinery spaces, and deck areas
- Ensure piping runs maintain required clearances, accessibility, and safety standards
- Install supports, insulation, and penetrations through bulkheads and decks in accordance with marine standards
- Follow shipyard safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and confined space procedures
- Adhere to standards such as ABS and OSHA regulations
- Maintain proper documentation of work performed, including system tests and certifications
