Working directly with the VP of Commercial Product, the Director of Creative Marketing and Storytelling will work across Boston Globe Media’s branded content and media planning teams to lead stunning design and compelling narrative creation to promote Boston Globe Media’s commercial solutions. The position requires a big-picture thinker and visionary capable of winning business and driving revenue through creative collaboration. The ideal candidate is a hands-on creative (primarily a writer and storyteller with design chops) who understands creative production because they are a “doer”, but also empowers others to create as the team’s visionary.Responsibilities:Creative Narrative
- Distill complex brand asks into simple, articulate, and compelling narratives and presentations
- Produce inspiring pitch frameworks to serve as blueprint for designer visualization
- Create and articulate compelling brand solutions at the intersection of Boston Globe Media’s offerings and brand’s needs.
- Reimagine Boston Globe Media’s pitch across Boston Globe’s publication portfolio and product suite for initiative-specific pitches and RFPs
- Lead a team to redesign Boston Globe Media’s integrated marketing materials and guidelines
- Create compelling storytelling ideas that serve as meaningful media solutions for brands
- Act as a hands-on pitch person assisting the sales team to inspire clients and contribute to articulating big, creative ideas.
- Collaborate alongside events, editorial, and branded content teams to grow tentpole initiatives such as Tech Week, Health Equity, and Top Places to Work into larger brand integration opportunities
- Act as an entrepreneurial leader in identifying opportunities for Boston Globe Media product and initiative expansion
- Prior content publishing or agency marketing management
- 7+ years of experience
- Willingness to be involved as a contributor in addition to managing a staff
- Results-oriented with a strong digital, video, and social portfolio
- Proven big-picture thinking and executing effective digital, video, and social, events strategies
- Deep knowledge of emerging digital platforms and technologies and new product innovations – well-informed on industry trends and ahead of the curve, especially in social, video and experiential strategies
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines and quick turnaround
- Proficiency in digital performance, user experience, multi-platform content execution and effective mobile and social media strategies
- Strong leadership and management skills
- A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment
