
Temporary Help Desk Support Specialist

- Work with staff to plan, schedule, monitor, verify, and analyze enterprise applications.
- Review and document applications and procedures to prevent and correct production issues as necessary.
- Investigate and insure resolution of issues reported to the Helpdesk.
- Escalate and assist on issues needing input from other IT staff.
- Identify and resolve client problems involving desktop applications, local and remote storage space allocation, network performance and operation, desktop configuration, and automated maintenance jobs and schedules.
- Log and document production problems including documenting issues and resolutions in the Helpdesk software.
- Identify reoccurring and potential process problems, jointly develop resolution plans and implements changes with other IT staff.
- Review, develop and improve software deployment and maintenance scripts/procedures.
- Install and troubleshoot hardware including computers, printers, phones, faxes, cameras, etc.
- Recommend process controls for prevention of issues or improvement in production systems.
- Investigate and test alternative methods to expedite problem resolution.
- Analyze log files and recommends changes to improve processing and system utilization.
- Recognize and identify areas where existing policies and procedures may require change or where new ones potentially need to be developed.
- Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and application programming.
- Experience in working with computers and applications: at least one year.
- The City of Ann Arbor, at its discretion, may consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
- At least two years of experience in working with computers and applications.
