Job Category: MaintenanceJob Description:HWI has a fantastic opportunity to join our Maintenance Team as Manager, Maintenance Department II.SummaryAs a key member of the plant leadership team, the Mgr, Maintenance Department II is responsible for the improvement and performance of equipment assets (stationary and mobile), controlling maintenance labor and material costs to achieve plant performance goals and the optimization of maintenance excellence strategies including Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PDM). This position is accountable for leading, motivating and developing HarbisonWalker International maintenance department employees and directing/coordinating maintenance capital expenditure project contractors to minimize waste and create standards to achieve quality and production results.Responsibilities
Optimizing the availability and safe, cost-effective operation of equipment assets through Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PDM) to meet the cyclical demands of discrete manufacturing
Coordinating maintenance and project requirements with production and engineering department(s); responsible for direct supervision of salaried and hourly workforce; developing and adhering to site processes, standards and policies; providing leadership for the development of individual talent for succession planning
Serving as the Maintenance Excellence Champion, responsible for maintenance excellence activities and leading implementations of equipment and process improvements (Six Sigma/Lean); implementing the technical support and training for the maintenance excellence activities
Driving improvements and maintaining a cost-effective approach toward asset management to minimize waste without loss of labor/asset performance and quality
Developing and tracking maintenance departmental key performance indicators (KPIs); managing KPI improvement initiatives; fosters an environment of continuous improvement
Optimizing costs through effective budget planning and management; supporting the effort to identify opportunities and capital requirements; partnering with regional engineers on plant capital expenditure projects administration and execution
Enhancing and implementing a proactive approach to the Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PDM) process including spare parts acquisition, management, inventory and predictive maintenance tools
Requirements
Requires B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence and motivate others
Familiar with maintenance management and maintenance excellence techniques such as Preventive Maintenance (PM)/Predictive Maintenance (PDM)
Requires computer operation skills, preferably MS Word and Excel, as well as in depth knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Requires knowledge of local state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to maintenance as well as OSHA safety standards
Requires knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Standards Quality Management Systems
Requires knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing and LEAN Management principles and experience in working towards Lean production while driving continuous improvement
Demonstrated ability to develop and communicate goals in support of the Company's vision
Demonstrated ability to identify potential issues and resolve complex problems, often involving large groups of people; can research difficult maintenance issues and determines effective courses of action
Demonstrated ability to develop tactical plans to close key resource gaps in the maintenance team skill sets
The Manager, Maintenance Department requires six plus (6+) years of plant maintenance and supervisory experience in an industrial manufacturing operation. Experience needs to include managing multiple functional groups within the skilled trades along with contractors. Individual should have some level of experience in heavy manufacturing processes that utilize automation to be more productive.

Vision: Requires accurate close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
Environment: Requires 1/3 to 2/3 of time working near moving mechanical parts and less than 1/3 of time exposed to fumes or airborne particles, working with explosives, in an office setting, working in high, precarious places, exposed to outdoor weather, extreme heat, vibration, and/or the risk of electrical shock.
Noise: Requires exposure to moderate noise.
