Hilton Head Hospital (HHH) is a 109-bed acute care hospital located at 25 Hospital Center Boulevard in Hilton Head Island, SC. To learn more about Hilton Head Hospital, please visit www.hiltonheadregional.com.Monitor Tech PCU Full Time Nights Position SummaryThe Telemetry Technician initiates, monitors, and discontinues telemetry monitoring of assigned patient population according to unit protocols and will documents accurately/completely as required. Continuously watches cardiac monitors for changes or disturbance in rate or rhythm. Recognizes and reports all monitor alarm conditions to include life-threatening and lethal arrhythmias to appropriate nursing staff. The Telemetry Technician directs communication regarding telemetry monitoring with both nursing and ancillary units. Maintains telemetry log book, monitoring devices and all necessary supplies for the telemetry monitoring station.THE MONITOR TECH PCU FULL TIME NIGHTS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.Education and Training:
1. High School degree or equivalent preferred.
2. Successful completion of basic arrhythmia course preferred.
3. Successful completion of the Basic EKG and Dysrhythmia Recognition Exam within 90 days of hire.Experience:
1. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
2. Previous telemetry or patient care experience preferred.Desired / Preferred Attributes:

3. Ability to quickly organize and multi-task.

Ability to respond to emergencies and unpredictable situations in a calm manner, exercising good judgment, and supporting unit staff as needed.#LI-LK1Responsibilities:Selects, sets-up, calibrates and adjusts monitoring equipment in accordance with physician orders. Ensures continued proper functioning of equipment; troubleshoots equipment problems as identified. Collects, transmits, and documents pertinent patient data to the Registered Nurse (RN) with correct interpretations and interval measurements on each patient at required intervals every shift and with any significant rhythm change. Maintains current monitored patients in the system; confers with nursing staff to determine correct validation counts and alarm parameters for patients. Reports alarms and changes of rhythm to RN staff. Greets, screens and processes incoming unit/dept calls, patients, visitors, and messages. Transcribes physician orders, enters tests, and treatment requests into system. Assembles and maintains patient medical records including posting of results.Qualifications: Education:Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
