Academy of St. BartholomewMiddleburg Hts., OHAcademy of Saint Bartholomew 14875 Bagley Road Middleburg Heights, Ohio 44130 Position: Band Director Part time w/ possibility of full time for the 2024-2025 School Year Seeking a band director to create an instrumental program for grades 4-8The Band Director will: • Direct and manage the overall program of instrument music for students in grades 4 through 8 • Manage budget and maintain all records related to the instrumental music program; work with families for payment schedules based on student involvement in program • Possess strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills • Supervise all school-hour and after-school activities involving band students, such as concerts, rehearsals, contests, sectionals, etc. • Provide students with opportunities to participate in extracurricular band activities in the community, and at local and state level sanctioned events. • Advise and assist any band parent support group and their activities. • Engage and plan with music teacher to align programmatic curricular and extra-curricular activities • Work with teachers in 4-8 to promote and encourage student participation in the band program. • Direct elementary and middle school instrumental performers, including beginners, intermediate, advanced, all soloists, ensembles, and performance/competition. • Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student’s eligibility to participate in band. • Provide for band participation at extra-curricular events, including concerts • Coordinate school calendar for before/after school rehearsals. • Arrange transportation for any band event taking place off campus. • Recruit qualified 4th-8th graders for band. • Ensure that programs are cost effective and managed wisely. • Maintain current inventory of all fixed assets within instrumental program. • Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all band equipment. Assist with rental of instruments with local companies. • Develop and implement differentiated learning strategies to meet the needs of multiple learning styles present in the band classroom. • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing. • Create and environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. • Apply and enforce student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, student handbook, and band handbook. • Accompany and supervise students on all band trips as applicable • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with students, administrators, and teachers. • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, administrators, and community members. Teacher candidate will demonstrate: • A strong commitment to the values of Catholic education • A work ethic defined by high standards of ethics and personal conduct, honesty, integrity, equity and professionalism • A commitment to continuous learning and improvement, growth mindset, and excellent organizational and communication skills • A dedication to student learning and achievement includes art history, project-based learning and real-world applications • A commitment to working with students who have different learning needs, particularly by providing accommodations or modifications to the curriculum and assessments as necessary • Ability to organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by procedures and applicable laws • A desire to collaborate and maintain strong collegial relationships • Ability to build on others’ ideas, capitalize on others’ strengths, and effectively share responsibility • A willingness to participate in or develop extracurricular activities, additional school initiatives, and support staff committees • Maintain high levels of confidentiality in relation to private or privileged information • Perform additional related duties and tasks as assigned by the school principal or designeeProfessional Requirements: Valid Ohio teaching license. Instrumental knowledge and leadership experience. Endorsement preferred.
