This role requires adherence to safety regulations, precision in operating machinery, and the ability to work efficiently in various construction settings.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate skid steers and, as needed, other construction equipment like dump trucks, front-end loaders, or graders to excavate, move, grade, and load materials.
  • Learn and comply with all safety regulations and procedures to avoid hazards and ensure workplace safety.
  • Take precautionary measures to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, including locating underground utilities before beginning work.
  • Monitor operations to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Use controls to operate equipment attachments, such as blades and buckets, effectively.
  • Start engine and operate the skid steer using controls to move levers, switches, and pedals.
  • Coordinate with other crew members, responding to hand or audio signals to position or move loads.
  • Transport and maneuver materials, ensuring the efficient execution of construction tasks.
  • Manage fuel supplies to guarantee adequate availability for ongoing operations.
  • Execute multiple passes over work areas to remove or distribute materials as required by the project specifications.
Requirements:
  • Proven ability to follow safety regulations and work instructions, with a keen eye for judging distances and slopes accurately.
  • Decision-making skills based on verifiable standards.
  • Tolerance for working in dusty or dirty surroundings.
  • Must pass construction equipment operator qualification testing/observation.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two to three years of verifiable and relevant experience operating skid steers and other construction equipment.
