- Must hold a West Virginia Experienced Underground Miner Certification.
- Must hold a Federal and West Virginia State Electrical Certification.
- Must be willing to work weekends as necessary to perform maintenance requirements
- Automation background and Longwall Mining Experience preferred.
- Must have high level of understanding MSHA regulations and Mechanical and Electrical Codes of Practice
- Ability to communicate with others
- The Automation Programmer will be responsible for providing turn-key automated solutions, specializing in PLC programming and software installations
- The Underground Automation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and improving automation systems on mobile and fixed equipment in an underground mining environment
- This role serves as the primary contact for all automation-related issues, ensuring the proper functioning of systems in collaboration with maintenance and operations teams
- Assist mining operations with issues and improvements
- Provide technical support and onsite troubleshooting and repair
- Resolve operational problems related to current systems or new projects
- Wire a variety of electrical control panels, motors, and other devices
- Work safely with a variety of voltages
- Interpret electrical drawings and documentation for custom machines, systems, and products
- Configure control components
- Monitor work progress, resolve issues affecting production, and ensure all tasks are completed on schedule.
- Identify and implement improvements targeting safety, reliability and cost savings with longwall equipment and materials.
- Communication between the mining team, company leadership, and regulatory agencies (state and federal).
- Ensure clear communication regarding operational performance, safety incidents, and compliance issues.
- Address any operational issues that arise, including safety hazards and equipment malfunctions
- Implement corrective actions quickly to minimize disruptions to operations.
- This is a full-time, onsite position in an underground coal mining environment.
- Work hours may include nights, weekends, and extended hours depending on operational needs
- Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces.
- Perform emergency and preventive maintenance, including electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting, and repair/replacement of component parts, on all production and support equipment.
- Must be able to read and interpret mechanical, electrical and hydraulic prints.
- Must be able to lift 50 to 100 pounds regularly.
- Operate equipment and use various hand tools as required.
- Work closely with others in a team effort.
