This individual will recommend and implement processes and procedures for prioritizing and managing projects throughout the organization in alignment with TRS strategic goals. They will manage PMO Staff and consultants which may include project managers, business analysts and organizational change practitioners to ensure effective project delivery. The PMO manager will provide visibility to leadership on project status, risks, and opportunities. Additionally, the PMO manager may also serve as a project manager as needed.Essential Functions
- Lead the PMO team in managing a portfolio of projects related to Strategic objectives, pension system enhancements, process improvements, and technology implementations.
- Mentor and guide project managers
- Foster a collaborative and results-oriented project management culture.
- Implement standardized project management methodologies and tools.
- Apply appropriate Project Management Framework for the needs of each project.
- Responsible for leading the organizational adoption of Project and Portfolio management systems and processes to manage project requests, governance, reporting and management.
- Collaborate with organizational and project specific change champions to ensure seamless integration of project initiatives.
- Promote change readiness and adoption across the pension system.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on project status, milestones, key performance indicators, risks and concerns.
- Build relationships and channels of communication across the organization to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines.
- Manage project scope to ensure that changes to deliverables are handled appropriately.
- Proactively identify and assess project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate issues as needed.
- Implement risk management processes to minimize project disruptions.
- Allocate resources effectively across projects.
- Make recommendations for project resources as appropriate.
- Collaborate with HR to recruit, train, and retain project management talent.
- Experience managing IT applications and infrastructure projects, and large scale projects involving cross functional teams.
- Experience developing and managing a high performing project management team through assessment of talent, regular feedback and active development skills.
- Strong understanding of pension systems, financial services, IT infrastructure.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of Agile Software Development Life Cycle is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or related field.
- PMP or PgMP certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in program management or PMO leadership, 5 years preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Project Management.
- Experience with Project Governance and Prioritization Methodologies
- Experience developing and implementing project management methodologies, standards and frameworks.
