The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Neurology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary or specialty medical care within defined scope of practice under the supervision of a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW/FMLH/CHW policies and procedures. Position is located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Hospital Specialty Clinics.In this role you will:
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary health care team, providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for the patients of the outpatient services as a member of the Department of Neurology- Movement team.
  • Have a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and ensure an environment of safe quality care.
Core Advanced Practice Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial status.
  • Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information
  • Write accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders
  • Develop pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
  • Monitor effectiveness of plan of care
  • Educate patients on disease and treatment plans.
  • Perform procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
  • Document within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents.
  • Collaborate and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
  • Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.
  • Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Joint Commission.
  • Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature.

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing
Physician Assistant
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies
Preferred Experience: Minimum of two years APP experience preferred but not required.Minimum Requirements: *or eligibleAdvanced Practice NurseAdvanced Practice Nurse Practitioner
  • Wisconsin RN License
  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
  • Certification as APN
  • AHA BCLS, DEA
  • CITI Certification to be completed within 90 days of hire
  • NP or Acute Care NP
  • Will consider certification as Family Practice
  • Certification as Adult Care NP preferred.
Physician Assistant
  • Wisconsin PA license
  • Certification by NCCPA
  • AHA BLS, DEA
  • CITI Certification to be completed within 90 days of hire.
