
Core Engine Calibration Engineer

- Generating optimal base engine calibrations meeting all the program objectives.
- Setting up and controlling all engine sensors and actuators for all engine operating conditions under both steady state and transient engine operation.
- Conducting engine hardware and systems testing and supporting all other teams with their standardized and specialized engine test requests.
- Planning and coordinating day to day activities of an engine and powertrain dynamometer.
- Collaborating with technicians and laboratory support engineers.
- Developing test plans and timelines, and generating reports to communicate the status of the program.
- Evaluating new engine hardware and powertrain technologies for future and carry over applications.
- Analyzing and solving complex system problems as they relate to engine performance, fuel consumption, emissions, and base engine calibration development.
- Manipulating and utilizing large and complex sets of engine mapping data.
- Participating in the decision process of base engine hardware selection and base engine calibration.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree with 3-5 years of experience in the development and calibration of gasoline spark ignition engines.
- Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 1-3 years of experience in the development and calibration of gasoline spark ignition engines.
- Preferred: Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Strong knowledge of internal combustion engines.
- Strong expertise and knowledge of engine control strategies and complex optimization strategies.
- Data acquisition experience collecting and processing data.
- Working knowledge of engine analysis and calibration tools, emissions development, engine technologies and competitive products.
- Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills.
- Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience and overall knowledge in emissions development, powertrain systems development and controls systems development.
- Calibration process knowledge using design of experiments and advanced optimization techniques.
- Proficient in advanced simulation tools.
- Proficient in Matlab / Simulink.
