
Scientist I, Peptide Purification

- Use LC/MS for purification, characterization, and analysis of peptides.
- Perform routine laboratory techniques: pipetting, reagent reconstitution, calculation of concentrations/dilutions, and accurate weighing of raw materials for instrument setup and compound processing.
- Setup, maintain, and troubleshoot instruments: HPLC, lyophilizers, peptide synthesizers, centrifuges, rotovap, and balances.
- Complete hazardous waste training (RCRA/DOT) and manage hazardous waste, including bulking and coordination with handlers.
- Follow SOPs for standardized activities; recommend improvements as needed.
- Identify and implement process improvements; conduct optimization experiments when necessary.
- Troubleshoot and correct process or instrument issues.
- Maintain accurate lab notebooks and records of all procedures.
- Analyze and interpret LC/MS data to assess peptide/sample quality.
- Adjust analytical methods for QC and peptide content.
- Contribute to development of new data analysis methods.
- Prepare and review technical reports, SOPs, summaries, and quantitative analyses.
- Stay current with scientific literature relevant to peptide purification and processes.
- Manage inventory of reagents and consumables; order supplies as needed.
- Train new employees in lab techniques and instrument use.
- Comply with all corporate/divisional policies and procedures.
- Adhere to standards regarding code of conduct, safety, handling of hazardous materials, GxP compliance, and animal care (if applicable).
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education with typically 5 years of experience, or Master’s Degree or equivalent education with typically two years of experience.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out the job functions.
