Job Title: Pathologists’ Assistant, long term travel assignment
Job Location: Washington, DC
Schedule: Monday-Friday – two shifts (rotates) 8-4:30 and 10-6:30
Dates: Sept. 22nd – Dec. 20th, 2025
Pay Range: $3100-3500/weekly – includes base pay, lodging, transportation

Position Summary: Responsible for assisting the Pathologist in Surgical Pathology. Works without direct supervision, performing professional duties associated with the preparation, performance and completion of autopsies, examinations, and/or preparation of surgical pathology specimens.Qualifications:
  • Required Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Pathologist Assistant (ASCP)
  • Bachelor’s Degree and completion of an accredited course as a Pathologists’ Assistant. (Master’s preferred.)
Key Responsibilities:Perform macroscopic examination, dissection, description, and tissue sampling of surgical pathology specimens, including routine, complex, and oncologic resections, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with CAP/CLIA standards.Conduct intraoperative consultations, including frozen section preparation, cryostat cutting, staining, and rapid communication of results to the surgical team.Assist in autopsy procedures by performing external and internal examinations, organ evisceration, dissection, tissue sampling, and documentation of findings under pathologist supervision.Maintain specimen integrity and chain of custody throughout all phases of grossing, frozen section, and autopsy workflows, following all regulatory and institutional guidelines.Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to support timely case completion, troubleshoot workflow issues, and ensure accurate, high-quality patient care.Participate in quality assurance, safety monitoring, and continuing education to ensure compliance with laboratory standards and to support continuous improvement in pathology services.
