Current project loads throughout the GMHILL area of operations demands the expansion of field staff at all levels.Position SummaryA GMHILL Superintendent/Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for the overall field work on a GMHILL project, with dual responsibility of Superintendent and SSHO, leading subcontractor superintendents to remain vigilant on safety as we accomplish the mission, always ensuring that company policies and procedures are met regarding safety, scheduling, budget, quality, and customer satisfaction. Experience and credentialing as a Superintendent/SSHO on federal USACE projects required. Must beKey TasksFollowing is a general list of tasks falling into the Superintendent’s areas of responsibility:
  • Work with Project Managers of potential problems, work interference, and schedule difficulties; assist in resolving problems and managing jobsite logistics as required
  • Direct and coordinate subcontractors and job site operations for job order contracts to ensure they turn out high-quality work that meets the approved project schedule.
  • Supervise the construction of job order projects as primary safety representative in the field
  • Manage the project budget for general conditions and site services
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of job order contract documents to be able to coordinate trades, plan ahead, and anticipate potential problems before they arise
  • Direct / Supervise all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications
  • Promote and monitor job site safety compliance and productivity of all trades with daily walkthrough of project site(s), daily safety meetings for all workers, safety inspections, and implementation of necessary changes
  • Produce Safety Reports and Activity Hazard Analysis for each definable feature of work on the project to ensure project compliance with specifications, procedures, quality control policies, and safety requirements (OSHA, USACE EM385.1.1, etc.)
  • Produce Daily Reports and Quality Reports in Procore/RMS regularly with description of satisfactory work completed by prime and/or subcontractors, or deficiencies with action to be taken, ensuring the report is complete and correct
  • Obtain or verify that the subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposes
  • Prepare work schedule, determine manpower requirements, material quantities, equipment needs, and supervise completion of final punch list
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere ensuring actions and behaviors are respectful among all.
Education and Training Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management discipline preferred and minimum of 5-years' experience in Superintendent, SSHO, Quality Control, and/or construction management roles. Demonstrated record of project safety and success on work valued from $500K to $10M+.
  • Procore Certified: Superintendent certificate (Can be acquired within 30 days of hire.)
  • OSHA 30 certifications and ARC First Responder Course completion
  • USACE Certified Quality Manager certification
Knowledge, Skill and Competency Requirements:
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the operational regions.
  • Must be physically fit to walk, climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, and meet other demands needed for inspections of projects and assessing areas of construction
  • Must have proficiencies with industry standard software such as Procore, MSOffice, Excel, Word, MS Project & Outlook. RMS experience highly desired.
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex project blueprints/plans and specifications; to include site/civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
