From small power banks to complete solar kits, we pride ourselves on supplying top-of-the-line off-grid solar equipment.Position Overview:As a PV design Engineer at Renogy, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and reviewing solar photovoltaic systems for residential, commercial, or utility-scale applications. This role bridges technical engineering expertise with practical field applications to ensure system performance, code compliance, and cost-effectiveness. The engineer collaborates with sales, project management, procurement, and installation teams to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable PV solutions.Duties and Responsibilities:This position will be responsible for leading a variety of activities including, but not limited to:
  • Utilize AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, and related tools to design and model rooftop and ground-mounted PV systems. Perform calculations for system capacity, tilt, azimuth, shading, and annual energy production.
  • Review site survey results to identify potential adders (e.g., electrical upgrades, structural reinforcements, or additional work required). Provide clear documentation and report findings to the project manager for cost and scope alignment.
  • Prepare complete construction drawings (plan sets) for permitting and installation. Assist in submitting permit packages to AHJs and utilities, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, zoning regulations, and interconnection standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to field crews during installation. Verify that systems meet NEC, local electrical codes, safety standards, and internal quality benchmarks.
  • Support system testing, final inspections, and grid interconnection processes. Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to resolve technical issues and optimize system performance post-installation.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, and other PV design tools.
  • Strong understanding of NEC, local codes, and utility interconnection requirements.
  • 2-4 years of hands-on experience with PV system commissioning, troubleshooting, and quality control preferred.
  • Highly self-motivated with strong strategic thinking abilities.
  • Team player with excellent collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions:(Typical office conditions include the below)
  • Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
  • Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach daily.
  • Must be able to climb stairs daily.
  • Hours occasionally exceed 40 hours per week.
  • Able to lift up to30 lbs.
