Exciting Job Opportunity in Albany, NYPosition: Blood Draw SpecialistLocation: Albany, NYSchedule:Mon-Fri 6:15a-2:45p every 3 Saturday 7a-11aProjected duration: 3 months + potential for permJob code: CVDJP00032711benefits are availablePhlebotomy on all agesChallenging procedures, fluid collection, endocrine system examinationsProcessingAttentive to detail and skilledTech-savvyData Entry and proceduresMinimum 1.5 years of expertiseJob Description: The main responsibility of a blood draw specialist is to aid in various delegated tasks, problem-solving, training, and offering suggestions for workflow enhancement.Responsibilities:Proficient at blood draws, specimen labeling, specimen spinning, recording upkeep details and decontamination, updating patient records, etc. Gathers and preserves specimens in accordance with established protocols.Clearly explains the venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen gathering (e.g. urine or fecal) process as needed in a polite manner.Demonstrates technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully comprehends all physician instructions. Matches lab forms to specimen tubes. Labels, spins, splits, and freezes specimens as per test orders.Validates all test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure full accuracy.Packs specimens for transit. Safely stores specimen samples at required temperatures, deposits samples in correct collection container/tube, labels accurately, follows varied procedures as laid out by specific protocols for transport to maintain specimen integrity. Complies with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attends yearly departmental training. Answers phone calls, reads lab results to address queries.Minimum Qualifications:Valid state-required Phlebotomy certification for employment. Minimum of 6 months’ experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GEDMinimum 1.5 years of expertise
