Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st shift (average 2 off-hour lab sessions per week)Overview
The Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MSAT) Upstream Group supports late-stage development and commercial biopharmaceutical/vaccine production, focusing on process troubleshooting, improvements, and second-generation process development. This role contributes to fermentation process execution, analytics, equipment maintenance, and collaborative technical problem-solving.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate within a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers on upstream fermentation projectsSetup bioreactors, execute experiments, perform basic analytics, and document resultsMaintain laboratory area and equipment in clean, safe, and functional conditionPerform routine laboratory studies, following SOPs and Standard Work instructionsServe as an upstream process resource for project teamsComply with safety and regulatory requirements via internal training programsConduct user-level equipment maintenance and associated documentationTroubleshoot technical issues with processes, equipment, and instrumentationRequired QualificationsBachelor's or Associate degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioprocessing, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology, or related discipline3–5 years relevant bioprocess experienceProficient in aseptic technique (REQUIRED)Experience in bioreactor operation and related analytical toolsStrong upstream technical knowledge and hands-on skillsAbility to plan and execute experiments independentlyStrong data analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent written and oral communication skillsProficient in scientific software and analytical toolsPreferred QualificationsIndustry experience in biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical manufacturingTroubleshooting skills for electrical and mechanical systemsExperience in microbial fermentation at lab and pilot/manufacturing scaleFamiliarity with control and data acquisition systemsKnowledge of cell culture and fermentation scale-up, optimization, and operationsInterest in applying current scientific literaturePhysical/Mental RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs routinelyStanding, walking, bending, and tool use for prolonged periodsPerform complex mathematical calculations and data analysisInterview ProcessRound 1: Phone screeningRound 2: Onsite interviewWhy Work With Us?
