- Initiates, updates, and/or maintains authorized records and unit log books.
- Maintains unit manuals and resource material.
- Maintains an orderly work environment by minimizing clutter/noise in the nurses' station, assisting physicians and other health care team members with charts, and performing light cleaning duties.
- Monitors, requisitions, and stocks supplies to maintain unit PAR levels. Reports problems to unit manager in a timely manner.
- Answers telephones and intercoms; receives and conveys messages; places calls, as requested.
- Communicates with RN throughout the shift, establishing time frames and priorities to facilitate patient care and movement through the system; notifies appropriate departments of patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Communicates in a professional manner and demonstrates respect for patients/families/significant others and health team members.
- Offers support and feedback to peers and staff. Applies principles of caring and healing in interactions with patients and families and with colleagues.
- Seeks and supports opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Serves as coach and mentor for less experienced colleagues.
- Offers consistent and visible support to team members.
- Strives to achieve excellence of service as described in the CARE Manual.
- Responds to the following Shore Health System codes: Code Red (in the immediate area), Code Pink (when called), Code Yellow (when called).
- Responsible for honest behavior in all matters. To the best of the employee’s knowledge and understanding, complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations.
- Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information. Uses and discloses only that information which is necessary to perform the function of the job.
- Ensures accuracy in the medication process, including, transport, storage and security of medications to include IV solutions.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
