ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be challenged to do:Whitney, Bailey, Cox & Magnani, LLC, now a division of TranSystems, is excited to announce we are actively searching for a Structural Engineer to join our award-winning team in the Marine-Industrial department.Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work with National and Local Building Codes, develop loads.
  • Assist with structural design and analysis (steel, concrete, wood, masonry) associated with building and marine structures, foundations and equipment support, framing/bracing, and any other tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in modeling/analyzing lateral systems.
  • Assist with preparing project cost estimates.
  • Assist in evaluation studies and help to develop reports.
  • Assist with field work during design, analysis and construction phases. Daily tasks may include field inspection work, concrete testing, rebar, structural steel, metal stud and metal deck inspections, structural repair inspections, writing field reports and transcribing field notes into report form.
  • Assist in submittal review process, including structural steel fabrication drawings, proprietary systems, performance design items, concrete reinforcement drawings and concrete mix designs.
  • Assist with design coordination with other project disciplines.
  • Work with structural computer software packages.
  • Must be a US Citizen or able to obtain government security clearance for access to military and government sites.
QualificationsWhat you bring to our firm:
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Structural Emphasis) or a Bachelors of Science in Architectural Engineering (Structural Emphasis)
  • Recent grad up to 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in MS Office
  • Structural analysis and CADD programs such as AutoCAD, Microstation, RAM, REVIT and STAADPRO preferred.
  • Good communication skills
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
What we prefer you bring to our firm:
  • EIT
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
Work Conditions:Mostly office work but may include some field work. Lifting +/- 30 lbs. Field work involves inspection or construction site visits which may consist of working at heights, climbing, being adjacent to traffic, being in a boat, and working in confined spaces. Field work may be required during any season. Must be able to lift ladders, assist in moving boats, and perform other light physical activity.
