- Develop innovative designs for undercarriage track systems that enhance performance, durability, and reliability.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., Solidworks, CATIA) to create detailed design specifications and models of undercarriage components.
- Perform structural analysis and simulations (using tools like FEA) to ensure designs meet performance standards.
- Collaborate with the testing team to evaluate prototypes through rigorous testing procedures including wear tests, load tests, and fatigue assessments.
- Research and recommend appropriate materials based on application requirements such as strength-to-weight ratio, wear resistance, corrosion resistance etc.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are feasible for production.
- Liaise with suppliers to source materials/components necessary for prototypes or final products.
- Lead design projects from concept through production while meeting timelines and budget constraints.
- Prepare technical documentation including design reports, specifications sheets, and user manuals.
- Conduct root cause analysis on product failures related to tracks; implement corrective actions to improve future designs.
- Stay abreast of industry trends related to undercarriage technology; integrate advancements into new projects.

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering focusing on undercarriage components or similar applications.
- Experience in designing Caterpillar or Komatsu track systems and undercarriage REQUIRED.
- Proficient in CAD software (Solidworks/CATIA) along with knowledge of FEA tools (ANSYS/ABAQUS).
- Strong understanding of material science as it pertains to mechanical properties relevant to track systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively about complex issues.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written; capable of presenting technical information clearly.
- Detail-oriented mindset coupled with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
