OverviewManage, direct, and coordinate the strategic planning and implementation of on- and off-campus recruitment of students from under-represented backgrounds, including first-generation students and students of color. Provide leadership to the professional staff in the College's efforts to expand these recruitment efforts.
Essential Duties: * Identify and direct on- and off-campus recruitment events targeted specifically for racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds and first-generation students. Conduct events (open houses, overnight programs, financial aid information events, etc.) while working with a student volunteer program of current students to assist with all phases of programming.
  • Act as the liaison to all outreach organizations for underserved populations, CBOs, and serve as the College's NECBAC representative. On campus, serve as the liaison with various constituents, including the Director of Multicultural Student Success and the Vice President/Chief Diversity Officer.
  • Participate in the application review process for all applicants. Perform detailed evaluation of students' academic records throughout high school by evaluating the high school transcripts, recommendation letters, personal essays, extra-curricular activities, and other accompanying documents. Act as a primary and secondary reader, as well as a member of the Committee on Admission, to assist in selecting the best students possible to reach enrollment goals. Assist in the selection of merit scholarship candidates.
  • Review travel history and analyze interest in Providence College for an assigned geographic territory in order to schedule appropriate high school visits and travel to best serve students throughout the application process. Determine the appropriate use of travel time to meet the established recruitment goals. Create and maintain relationships with school counselors, students, and families. Travel independently throughout the geographic territory for approximately six weeks in the fall and two weeks in the spring.
  • Serve as supervisor for professional staff. Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance in all aspects of college admission. Conduct annual performance reviews and approve vacation and sick time.
  • Contribute to the overall recruitment activities of the office on a daily basis. Conduct interviews and group information sessions providing detailed information about the admission and evaluation process and the typical applicant pool statistics. Meet with prospective students and parents to answer questions in person, via email, and on the phone.

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field from an accredited institution required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of six years' of progressive experience in an undergraduate admission office or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Effective time management skills and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and public speaking experience required
  • Understanding of the selective college admission cycle
  • Commitment to a diverse working environment and cultivating a diverse community
  • Must have a valid driver's license

Salary Grade 21 (Min. $73,292/Mid. $95,279/Max. $117,266)
Salary InformationEmployees are normally hired between the minimum and the midpoint of a position's grade range to which a position has been assigned, depending on experience and qualifications.
