The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Dental Assistant to provide support our government customer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform duties as dental assistant required to make recommendations for fitness for flying duties.
  • Prepare all dental rooms/equipment for use as required by the USAF Guidelines for Infection Control in Dentistry and Title 10 of the US Code, Section 1074, 1074a, 1076, 1076a and 1077.
  • Prepare, obtain, and process clear and complete panoramic view and bite-wing dental x-rays.
  • Upon request, forward dental x-rays to gaining units.
  • Inputs all personal data and information required to identify and complete each physical examination.
  • Perform and record vital signs, height, weight, and anthropometric measurements. Order and record blood, urine specimens, and other laboratory tests required to complete the physical examinations. Enter and use the existing computer systems designed for these procedures.
  • Order and record radiographic examinations required to complete the physical examinations to include additional exams as necessary.
  • Perform and record all paraprofessional screening examinations required to complete examinations for flying duty IAW the PEM, MSD and DAFMAN 48-123.
  • Perform and record audiometric testing and data entry for the same.
  • Record results of 12-lead electrocardiogram.
  • Identify, interpret, and apply medical standards on all physical examinations in accordance with the MSD, DAFMAN 48-123, and the USAF Aeromedical Waiver Guide.
  • Perform all examination data entries in PEPP.
  • Perform data entries in the AIMWTS.
  • Interpret and record Medical Flight Screening (MFS) examination information in the MFS Web Interface and update all required demographics.
  • Accomplish pre-screening review of medical documents for disqualifying conditions in accordance with the MSD, DAFMAN 48-123 and USAF Waiver Guide and determine adequate documentation to either justify necessary specialty referral appointments during the week of the exam or cancellation of appointment after certification and waiver authority agreement.
  • Ensure accurate patient demographics entry to the FAA MedXPress website.
  • Attend training for dental x-ray proficiency as necessary and perform dental x-rays in the absence of the dental technician.
  • Responsible for monitoring, ordering, and restocking medical supplies in physician exam rooms.
  • Support in training requests to demonstrate and describe routine MFS Branch functions and how it supports the USAF aircrew medical examination, as well as the overall flying training mission, to students and executive personnel.
  • Accomplish task competency review sessions on a different subset of MFS Branch technician tasks quarterly with other medical technician staff to improve task proficiency.
  • Monitor CHCS order entry templates for administrative accuracy.
  • Ensure proper filing of all completed examinations and update tracking database.
  • Accomplish routine assessment of each examination to verify that exam type matches MAJCOM request for proper flying training medical qualification.
  • Assist in any other duties required to perform and complete each physical examination.
  • Additional duties as assigned by your Supervisor.
HOURS OF PERFORMANCE: 7 am – 4 pm, Monday thru FridayREQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a military or civilian dental technician specific training course.
  • Maintain training certification at the assistant level (or higher equivalent).
  • BLS certification.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • At least three (3) years of experience.
  • Maintain proficiency in performing bitewing and panoramic dental radiographs.
  • Maintain proficiency in operating dental autoclaves and sterilizing dental equipment to comply with infection control standards.
  • Maintain mandatory annual training requirements as per USAFSAM and local DAFMAN’s
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to pass a Tier 1 background check (T1)/SF85I.
