- Fill and distribute prescriptions to patients in a timely manner.
- Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability.
- Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
- Ensure medication will not interact adversely with another prescribed medication.
- Submit prescriptions to doctor for automatic refills.
- Monitor the health and progress of patients to ensure that they are using their medications safely and effectively.
- Advise patients on over-the-counter medications
- Provide information on durable medical equipment.
- Advise patients with conditions such as diabetes, asthma, smoking cessation, or high blood pressure.
- Maintain and update confidential computerized records of patients' drug therapies to prevent harmful drug interactions.
- Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, and control records for narcotics or controlled drugs.
- Plan, implement, or maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
- Assess the identity, strength, or purity of medications.
- Order and purchase pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, or drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly.
- Analyze prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.
- Advise customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment, or healthcare supplies.
- Teach pharmacy students serving as interns in preparation for their graduation or licensure.
- Refer patients to other health professionals or agencies when appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences is required
- Three (3) years of prior Pharmacy experience is required.
- Valid and unrestricted Pharmacist license required in the state(s) of practice.
- Registered with the applicable Board of Pharmacy and in good standing.
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license
