For additional information on remote work at Penn State, see .POSITION SPECIFICS​The Deskside Support team within Penn State IT, is seeking a customer-focused, self-driven, and highly motivated IT Support Specialist to join a team supporting approximately 10,000 endpoint devices across 28 non-IT business units. This distributed role serves as the primary IT contact for designated units, providing technical support, managing IT assets, and contributing to service improvement initiatives.RESPONSIBILITIESProvide advanced hardware and software support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and escalations.Manage the lifecycle of IT assets, including procurement, imaging, inventory, and decommissioning.Lead or support IT projects, committees, and process improvement efforts.Foster strong relationships between IT and faculty/staff.Participate in on-call rotations and respond to urgent incidents.Assist with onboarding, mentoring, and training of team members.QUALIFICATIONSRequired:Strong customer service and communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle background check.Preferred:Experience with Active Directory, Configuration Manager, JAMF, Office 365, Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, and Point of Sale systems.Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms.Project coordination or leadership experience.MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS Associate Degree 4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: NoneADDITIONAL INFORMATIONHybrid work arrangement upon successful onboarding: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote weekly.Evening or weekend work may be required based on unit needs.Cover letter and resume must be uploaded at the time of application.Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
