Do you see yourself as part of our team of passionate, committed, and caring people?JOB SUMMARY:The Food Service Worker I is responsible for preparation and service of meals and snacks that meet Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements for children. All meals and snacks will be prepared in a safe and sanitary manner according to food safety guidelines.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Follow menu and standardized recipes and consult with the Nutrition Services Department staff two weeks prior to menu changes.
  • Utilize portion and cost control procedures to avoid unwarranted food service operating cost.
  • Ensure proper storage of food and supplies, rotating stock to avoid spoilage.
  • Complete accurate menu planning, food orders and inventory forms as required.
  • Submit all menu planning worksheets and food orders weekly.
  • Turn in orders, pick up supplies from designated location or grocery store and assist in food delivery as requested.
  • Maintain kitchen equipment in organized, sanitary and safe condition and initiate requests for repair or replacement when necessary.
  • Plan and lead, with teacher approval food experiences and nutrition education activities in the classroom.
  • Follow food service dress regulations and approved housekeeping and sanitation practices to ensure that sanitary and safe conditions are maintained in the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Provide nutrition information and recipes to parents upon request.
  • Work in conjunction with teacher director/site supervisor, and the Nutrition Services Department in menu planning and completion of required paperwork.
  • Coordinate activities with teachers, teacher director/site supervisor, and the Nutrition Department to meet the needs of children with special dietary requirements and to provide food experiences in the classroom.
  • Perform other duties as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma (or equivalent); AND
  • One year work/volunteer experience in a meal service setting.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Travel and attend out of area meetings and conferences as required per the funding source(s).
  • Work variable hours and days, including those outside regular Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. business hours.
  • Meet and maintain KCAO hiring requirements which include:
  • Criminal Record Clearance including California DOJ, FBI and Child Abuse Centralized Index (CACI).
  • Reliable, insured transportation and valid California Driver License.
  • Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) acceptable to KCAO's vehicle insurer.
  • Health examination with tuberculin clearance.
  • AND contingent on employment candidate will be required to provide documentation of your Measles, and Pertussis immunizations.
  • Influenza immunization highly preferred.
  • Ability to be contacted outside of regularly scheduled work hours in case of emergency.
