- Follow menu and standardized recipes and consult with the Nutrition Services Department staff two weeks prior to menu changes.
- Utilize portion and cost control procedures to avoid unwarranted food service operating cost.
- Ensure proper storage of food and supplies, rotating stock to avoid spoilage.
- Complete accurate menu planning, food orders and inventory forms as required.
- Submit all menu planning worksheets and food orders weekly.
- Turn in orders, pick up supplies from designated location or grocery store and assist in food delivery as requested.
- Maintain kitchen equipment in organized, sanitary and safe condition and initiate requests for repair or replacement when necessary.
- Plan and lead, with teacher approval food experiences and nutrition education activities in the classroom.
- Follow food service dress regulations and approved housekeeping and sanitation practices to ensure that sanitary and safe conditions are maintained in the kitchen and dining areas.
- Provide nutrition information and recipes to parents upon request.
- Work in conjunction with teacher director/site supervisor, and the Nutrition Services Department in menu planning and completion of required paperwork.
- Coordinate activities with teachers, teacher director/site supervisor, and the Nutrition Department to meet the needs of children with special dietary requirements and to provide food experiences in the classroom.
- Perform other duties as required.
- High school diploma (or equivalent); AND
- One year work/volunteer experience in a meal service setting.
- Travel and attend out of area meetings and conferences as required per the funding source(s).
- Work variable hours and days, including those outside regular Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. business hours.
- Meet and maintain KCAO hiring requirements which include:
- Criminal Record Clearance including California DOJ, FBI and Child Abuse Centralized Index (CACI).
- Reliable, insured transportation and valid California Driver License.
- Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) acceptable to KCAO's vehicle insurer.
- Health examination with tuberculin clearance.
- AND contingent on employment candidate will be required to provide documentation of your Measles, and Pertussis immunizations.
- Influenza immunization highly preferred.
- Ability to be contacted outside of regularly scheduled work hours in case of emergency.
