We are constantly building a professional learning community where teachers and partners are having hard conversations and we are pushing each other to get better at our craft.Exemplary ColleaguesWhen you decide to join the PCCS team, you are choosing to work with award-winning professionals who strive together to Create Natural Leaders. that children are our best hope to improve the world, if you do too, we want you to join our team.Job DescriptionThe K-8 Multilingual Learner Teacher is primarily responsible for implementing the multilingual learning plan, primarily in the regular education classroom environment.Duties include but are not limited to the following:Provide direct service in individual or group settings to students identified as Multilingual Learners, utilizing a variety of instructional techniques, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student.Schedule, administer, and score district and state assessments as needed, including WIDA MODEL/Screener, ACCESS, and district benchmarkingAttends and is an active participant in Team, 504, and IEP Meetings as appropriate.Provide ongoing consultation to staff for identified students within the following areasCurriculum accommodations, modifications, and materialsAssistance in identifying academic difficultiesDiscussion and feedback concerning student progressAssists the classroom teacher in creating an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the learning style of the studentsPrepares lesson plans on a weekly basis for assigned students and a substitute folderGuide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establish clear objectives for all learning and behavioral activities, and communicate these objectives to the students.Monitor the progress of students on a regular basis. Assist in the collection and analysis of data for the identification and implementation of supplemental services.Maintain accurate and complete records, including student progress as required.Provide consultation to parents as an integral part of helping their son/daughter, to increase the parents' understanding, their constructive participation in their child's education, and the appropriate use of available resources.Participate in field trips, camping trips, etc. to provide educational/behavioral instruction or support as needed for a special needs student.Will act as an integral support on the Multicultural team in the planning and execution of school and community events.Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Student Services, Deans, and other central office administrators as designated by the Executive Director.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.Knowledge of elementary and middle school curriculum and concepts.Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.Ability to organize and coordinate work.Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.Skilled in the area of Diversity, Equity, and InclusionEducation/ExperienceValid Professional Educator License in Teaching with an English as a Second Language endorsement.Environmental/Outdoor Education background is a plus.Salary and BenefitsBase salary: Starts @ $44,409.64 annually and is based upon Collective Bargaining Agreement (depending on experience, education & qualifications).Benefits Package includes competitive PTO as well as:Health Insurance:Various Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage options are available.Retirement:Participation in the Illinois Teachers' Retirement System (TRS).403 B PlanProfessional Development:Funding for professional development opportunities, including conferences and workshops.Work Schedule and Hours:The position is from mid-August to the first part of June.PCCS is an equal-opportunity employer and fully embraces diversity and inclusion.
