DescriptionAssists in providing self-care training and therapeutic treatments to residents diagnosed with mental illness. Trains residents in daily living skills. Converses with residents to reinforce positive behaviors and to promote social interaction. Assists in meal preparation and may eat with residents to act as a role model. Observes and documents resident's behaviors to help facilitate assessment of treatment goals. This position may require use of personal vehicle to transport clients when an agency vehicle is not available.This position is eligible for a sign on bonus!ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participates in the oversight of the maintenance of the community residence and its conformity to health and safety requirements.
  • Provides for the physical needs of each resident by the following means: Adequate food, shelter and clothing, Assists with medication management/training and the adherence to physicians' instructions.
  • Assists with securing residents medications and personal belongings.
  • Monitors Medications.
  • Reports to supervisor pertinent information concerning illnesses, accidents, untoward events, staff difficulties, repair needs, etc.
  • Maintains the house in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Assists with planning and preparing nutritionally sound meals on shift.
  • Oversees the completion of housekeeping tasks and food preparation to all residents.
  • Encourages residents through the completion of daily living skills.
  • Assists in the delivery of restorative services as designated on the service plan.
  • Provides transportation for residents to other needed services with the assistance of other staff.
  • Effectively handles crisis situations.
  • Specific to the Night Shift: secures the residence for the night; conducts bed checks as required; completes all tasks assigned to the shift. This is an overnight AWAKE position.
  • Working as a Member of a Team: Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers emphasizing the following: Doing your share of work, leaves work area clean and/or neat, shows a level of tolerance and flexibility towards others, gives and/or receives positive and constructive feedback, carries out team decisions consistently.
  • Works at other residential sites as assigned.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Management has the right to add or change the duties of this position at any time.RequirementsHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED);Preferred: Experience and/or training in the mental health field with developmentally delayed, geriatric and co-occurring disorder clients.
