Foursquare is seeking a Seattle-based talented data science professional to help with all aspects of strategic insight development, leveraging our unique foot traffic panel and location technology. Reporting into the Data Science Lead, this role will work closely with the engineering, product and the sales organizations to optimize the company's B2B products. The data scientist will work with the cross-functional product team to develop compelling and innovative applications of our data, and build out methods for improving our algorithms and product quality.The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fluid start-up environment and will bring an energetic, fun, and creative approach to their work. They should be a motivated self-starter with exceptional analytic and problem-solving skills. Industry experience in predictive modeling, data science and strategic analytics with large datasets is preferred. We're eager to meet those who are interested in location-based services, learning new skills on an advanced platform, and pushing out tons of high quality work quickly.Our engineering organization has transitioned to a performance system that prioritizes experience, skills, and impact over traditional hierarchy. By simplifying titles and focusing on market-based levels, we aim to cultivate a high-performing, team-based environment where collaboration and innovation are at the heart of everything we do. 3+ years work experience as a data scientist or in analytics, working with big datasets
Extensive experience in the following fields (any): data science, modeling, machine learning, deep learning, (big) data analytics, data normalization, geospatial data science, causal inference
Expertise in SQL and Python/Pyspark
An understanding of data science and machine learning concepts, with hands-on experience with a broad range of research & analytics tools, including emerging tolls and methods.
Experience with embedding models and/or ranking models is considered a plus
Familiarity with working with location data and an ability to clearly understand complex underlying data assets
Ability to distill complex data science concepts and methodology, and articulate insights to cross-functional teams and clients with varying levels of knowledge in this space
A solid understanding of data structures and algorithms is nice to have
Must be a self-motivated team player and comfortable working in a small, fast paced, exciting environment

At Foursquare, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry and market standards.
