This position provides clinical evaluations and treatment for residents of the Wyoming Life Resource Center in Lander.Human Resource Contact: Tammy / 307-335-6784 /ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
- Manage health problems and coordinate health care for residents in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations and nursing standards of care.
- Provide complete histories and physical exams on residents, review and record pertinent data, complete the appropriate diagnostic work-up and procedures, and recommend or provide appropriate treatment.
- Implement interventions to support residents to regain or maintain physiologic stability, including but not limited to serving in the first assisting role. Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
- Facilitate the resident's transition within and between healthcare settings, such as admitting, transferring, and discharging.
- Order necessary external diagnostic procedures.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
- Instruct and counsel staff and families regarding resident diets, disease, therapy, and progress and provide educational tools.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
- Document resident information and treatment in accordance with facility policies, procedures, and governing regulations.
- Provide emergency evaluation and treatment when needed.
- Participate in on-call rotation outside of traditional hours and respond to, examine, and treat residents with medical conditions.
- Engage in continuous education to remain abreast of technological, methodological, and other developments in the field.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of medicine and/or nursing including pediatric, obstetrical, gynecological, surgical, and /or emergency outpatient medical care.
- Knowledge of prescription and non-prescription medications.
- Knowledge of diagnostic laboratory and radiological tests.
- Knowledge of quality assurance methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of Public Health initiatives and outcomes.
- Knowledge of evidence-based medicine.
- Knowledge of current state and federal regulations related to the profession and governing regulations for an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF).
- Skills in computer usage and use of electronic health records.
- Ability to work with and around WLRC residents, including those who may display challenging behaviors.
- Ability to maintain current provider cards in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Skills in written and oral communication, including the ability to communicate effectively and positively with residents, staff, families, guardians, and the public.
- Ability to bend, lift, twist, pull, push, etc. as would be expected to provide patient care and treatment in clinic and hospital settings.
- Ability to work directly with residents who display aggressive and challenging behaviors.
