Job Title: Technical Writer – IT (Hybrid)Location: Cincinnati, OH – Hybrid (3 days on site)Employment Type: Contract - 6 months (Possibility of extension)About the RoleVaco is seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer with experience in IT documentation to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in writing technical content for IT systems, applications, and processes. This role requires the ability to work closely with technical teams, project managers, and auditors to produce clear, accurate, and compliant documentation.Experience working within controls frameworks (SOX, SOC, ISO, NIST, etc.) and knowledge of IT auditing requirements is a strong plus.ResponsibilitiesCreate, edit, and maintain technical documentation including system/process documentation, IT procedures, user guides, and policies.Collaborate with IT, security, and compliance teams to ensure documentation aligns with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.Support IT audits and control testing by preparing and maintaining required documentation.Ensure version control and documentation governance practices are followed.Conduct reviews with subject matter experts (SMEs) to validate content accuracy.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).3+ years of experience in technical writing for IT or software environments.Strong understanding of IT systems, security, or infrastructure.Experience with documentation tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, MadCap Flare, or MS Office Suite.Familiarity with IT controls, compliance frameworks, or auditing (SOX, SOC, ISO, NIST, HIPAA, etc.) preferred.Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.What We OfferHybrid work schedule (flexible onsite/remote balance).Competitive compensationProfessional development and training opportunities.Collaborative team environment with opportunities to work on impactful IT initiatives.
