
Executive Director (Equity & Justice Initiative)

- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in social justice, policy, or community engagement, including 3 years in a senior executive role
- Graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g. public policy, law, history, social sciences)
- Proven experience in racial equity, historical redress, policy development, or community-based initiatives.
- Strong project management, strategic planning, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder processes with transparency and sensitivity.
- Strong background in reparative justice and addressing historical inequities
- Solid understanding of slavery, systemic racism, and related policy issues
- Experience leading cross-functional teams (e.g. policy analysts, legal experts, historians, researchers)
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple contributors and deadlines
- Strong skills in writing, editing, research, and producing high-quality reports
- Experience overseeing the full report lifecycle, from drafting to publication
- Ability to create visually engaging and accessible reports, including data visualizations
- Experience gathering and integrating community feedback into final deliverables
- Develop and implement work plans aligned with the Commission's mission and deliverables.
- Guide cross-functional teams, including policy experts, researchers, legal counsel, and all other related teams, while overseeing their projects and departments.
- Lead the drafting, editing, and submission of the final recommendations report.
- Ensure integration of findings from hearings, research, and stakeholder input.
- Lead statewide community engagement efforts, including public hearings, education forums, and listening sessions.
