Position Overview:The Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) enhances financial oversight and plays a significant role in helping the Company achieve its operating objectives by ensuring financial transparency, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and identifying ways to operate more efficiently. The CAO is an integral partner with the Company’s Chief Financial Officer and works closely with the Finance team and other senior leaders of the Company. The CAO has oversight for all accounting and financial reporting, accounting research and policy, internal controls, Audit Committee presentations and supporting materials, as well as responsibility for managing the external audit relationship, and collaborating with Internal Audit, Group Finance, Tax, Treasury, M&A and FP&A leaders.The CAO position reports directly to Masco Corporation’s Chief Financial Officer and is based at the Company’s headquarters in Livonia, Michigan.Responsibilities:
  • Lead all aspects of the Company’s worldwide accounting activities, including internal and SEC reporting, consolidations, technical accounting, operational accounting, transactional accounting, accounting policies, internal controls, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and financial systems.
  • Lead and/or participate in strategic initiatives of the Company involving accounting, financial reporting, tax planning compliance, including providing updates to the Company’s Audit Committee.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes, including preparation of financial documents and management reporting metrics and analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with all SEC, GAAP/IFRS, FASB regulatory reporting rules and regulations in addition to state, local and corporate policies, regulations, and laws.
  • Anticipate internal and external reporting changes and identify the impact of new technical accounting pronouncements.
  • Instill a strong culture of internal controls across the Company, including the design and testing of a robust financial control framework.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, including 10+ years of experience in an accounting leadership position at a publicly traded company.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience addressing a company’s Audit Committee, Board of Directors and key partners.
  • Sound knowledge and demonstrated application of key accounting and internal control frameworks including US
  • GAAP, IFRS, COSO, Sarbanes-Oxley Act and SEC rules.
  • Quantitative and analytical approach, with distinctive operational and business judgment.
  • A strong team orientation with experience leading and developing a high-performance team, with a focus on performance, coaching, mentoring and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or MS in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience leading complex M&A activity.
  • Big-4 public accounting experience.
  • Strong proficiency in ERP Systems, including Workiva and HFM, a plus.
