- Ownership of First Techâs financial records and accounts, ensuring accuracy of their preparation in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Responsible for the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements of the Credit Union, including reporting to Board of Directors.
- Responsible for the timely preparation of Credit Unionâs quarterly Call Report submission to the NCUA in accordance with NCUA requirements.
- Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures to ensure appropriate internal controls are in place across the Credit Union.
- Oversight of accounts payable function for the Credit Union.
- Oversight of payroll and tax compliance and reporting.
- Collaborates with external and internal auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders on audits of accounting related matters.
- Coordinates with other business units and operations to ensure accurate and on-time monthly close and reporting.
- Develops and manages the budget for the controllership organization, ensuring that spending aligns with strategic goals and objectives.
- Manages and leads the accounting and accounts payable teams, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Maintains strong relationships with credit unions, suppliers, legal representatives, and clients.
- Proactively evaluate emerging accounting rules and regulations.
- Collaborates with various company departments on projects and provide accounting advice, incorporating accounting considerations into credit union projects and initiatives.
- Minimum of 10 years progressively responsible accounting operations experience with a minimum of 5 years of direct supervision of employees.
- Experience and knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting regulations
- Proficient in accounting software, databases, and spreadsheets
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in successfully driving projects, processes and change management concepts in a dynamic and complex operating environment.
- Ability to foster internal and external business relationships to ensure alignment with business imperatives
- Broad knowledge of, and practical experience with, financial institutions operating areas, functions, products and services, and the laws and regulations
- Outstanding presentation development and delivery skills
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Minimum Education: BA or BS degree in accounting, finance, or related field from an accredited college or university.
- MBA, CPA, or Big Four Audit experience preferred, or equivalent work experience
