This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health- Inpatient Services, 7901 Faison Drive, Columbia, SC 29203.The Office of Mental Health's mission is to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses. We provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
As the Equipment Operator III - Driver, under limited supervision of the Shipping/Receiving Manager and/or Operations Manager, you are responsible for receiving, transporting, and shipping food in compliance with department, local, state, and federal guidelines.Responsibilities for the Equipment Operator III-Driver Include:
  • Operate refrigerated vehicles over OMH campuses, assigned facilities, and public roads, following prescribed operating and safety procedures. Perform vehicle maintenance check of assigned department vehicle before leaving in the morning. Adhere to all rules, such as clean truck as needed, clean/sanitize truck between deliveries, plug in truck between deliveries, report any mechanical problems to manager between deliveries for daily duties. Must obtain a valid driver's license.
  • Transport and deliver carts, meal trays and orders to and from assigned facilities per schedule. Load meal trays, as needed, into retherm units in dining rooms. Ensure dirty trays are clean and not transported together.
  • Verify counts, accuracy and acceptable conditions of delivery items. Obtain appropriate signatures, as needed, of delivery items.
  • Maintain records for inventories, quality control, quality assurance, sanitation checklist, temperature charts, and all other records necessary for the operation, shipping, receiving, and transportation area. Maintain HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) standard compliance in all work areas. Accurately maintain Monthly Trip Logs and fuel receipts.
  • Train new driving staff on heavy equipment.
  • Adhere to patients' privacy and "Bill of Rights" standard requirements while performing duties.
Experience in the operation or maintenance of heavy equipment, motorized vehicles or vessels, or machinery that is directly related to the area of employment. Additional Requirements
  • Physical ability to manually lift 50 pounds and push over 100 pounds.
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, pull, push, climb stairs or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
