
Sr Principal Engineer Systems Architect

- Will participate in analyzing high-level needs through a structured and logical approach
- Will be responsible for creating System Architecture solutions and concepts for a variety of new and emerging capabilities for the C2BMC system in collaboration with other Architects, including lead Systems Architect, software architects, network architect, cyber architect, etc.
- Communicates and collaborates on System Architecture solutions with other teams such as software developers, network engineers, cyber engineers, DevSecOps teams, infrastructure teams, test teams, and deployment teams
- This includes both physical architecture and logical architecture across the System
- Will interface with project leads, product owners, and MDA customers
- Will present architecture concepts to a large variety of audiences and serve as the focal point for the System Architecture for the Capability for the development, test, and deployment efforts
- Will present at internal and external design reviews
- Will assist in documenting or reviewing architectures in an MBSE tool such as CAMEO
- Maintains knowledge of current and developing technologies and design methodologies in the area of DoD Command and Control and COTS/FOSS information technology products
- Must have Systems Engineering/Architecture and/or Test Experience on a DoD Program
- Must have the desire to be a Systems Architect on a complex Command and Control DoD Program
- Must have excellent communication skills and be able to present technical concepts to a diverse group of engineers
- Experience being part of a team that architected systems in an environment that leverages existing or COTS/GOTS components with DoD interoperability in mind
- Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions
- Familiar with software development and Java-based software solutions
- Familiar with Agile development
- Familiar with requirements management tools, e.g., DOORS
- Familiar with private cloud solutions and IT technologies such as:
- VMWare
- Nutanix
- RedHat
- Networking solution
- A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, such as Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics, from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a related STEM discipline with 6 years of experience (preferred); or a PhD in a related discipline with 4 years of experience is required
- Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
- Must possess at least two of the items listed below skillsets:
- C2BMC or similar complex DoD Command and Control (C2) system experience for over 2 years
- Experience in developing new system architecture concepts and solutions
- Work experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software, or Network fields on an integrated team collaborating with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions for a DoD program
- Experience as a Technical Lead, Systems Engineering SME, or technical leader in Systems Engineering within the Missile Defense, Space, or Link 16 domains
- Experience in:
- Identifying and defining desired capabilities
- Communicating these capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users
- Creating architecture artifacts to document and track the achievement of the desired capabilities
- Experience in developing system engineering and architecture artifacts:
- Specifications
- Interface Control Documents
- Use Cases
- System Architecture Descriptions
- Trade Studies
- Experience in preparing briefings, reviewing architecture designs and artifacts, and presenting at DoD Customer Design Reviews
- Experience as a technical leader in a DoD Systems Engineering or Development project
- Knowledge of DoD Cyber requirements, RMF, and related solutions
- Knowledge of DevSecOps and/or Digital Engineering Transformation (DET) methodologies and solutions
- Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Cameo tools
- A Master's Degree in Systems Engineering is preferred
- Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
