This role, based in Huntsville, AL, is vital in supporting the U.S. President, Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.Relocation Assistance is not available for this position, and this role is on-site with no remote options.Position Overview:The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program functions as the central element of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor the battle's progress, and actively manage networked sensors and weapons systems to meet global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense system that delivers an optimized response to threats across all ranges and phases of flight. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations worldwide and regionally to improve performance. Moreover, C2BMC is a key part of all ground and flight tests of the system, which verify and validate current and future missile defense capabilities.C2BMC is an exciting and dynamic program in the Missile Defense and Space mission areas. It has a long history of providing solutions to the Missile Defense Agency and currently continues to be contracted to develop new and innovative solutions for these missions. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work across both Missile Defense and Space domains within C2BMC. They will be part of an integrated architecture and systems engineering team on a multi-company program, responsible for defining the operational, physical, functional, and technical architecture needed to realize the vision and desired capabilities of an evolving C2BMC effort. The candidate will contribute to designing missile defense command, control, and battle management systems within an environment that leverages existing or COTS/GOTS components, with DoD interoperability in mind.Essential Functions:
  • Will participate in analyzing high-level needs through a structured and logical approach
  • Will be responsible for creating System Architecture solutions and concepts for a variety of new and emerging capabilities for the C2BMC system in collaboration with other Architects, including lead Systems Architect, software architects, network architect, cyber architect, etc.
  • Communicates and collaborates on System Architecture solutions with other teams such as software developers, network engineers, cyber engineers, DevSecOps teams, infrastructure teams, test teams, and deployment teams
  • This includes both physical architecture and logical architecture across the System
  • Will interface with project leads, product owners, and MDA customers
  • Will present architecture concepts to a large variety of audiences and serve as the focal point for the System Architecture for the Capability for the development, test, and deployment efforts
  • Will present at internal and external design reviews
  • Will assist in documenting or reviewing architectures in an MBSE tool such as CAMEO
  • Maintains knowledge of current and developing technologies and design methodologies in the area of DoD Command and Control and COTS/FOSS information technology products
  • Must have Systems Engineering/Architecture and/or Test Experience on a DoD Program
  • Must have the desire to be a Systems Architect on a complex Command and Control DoD Program
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to present technical concepts to a diverse group of engineers
  • Experience being part of a team that architected systems in an environment that leverages existing or COTS/GOTS components with DoD interoperability in mind
  • Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions
  • Familiar with software development and Java-based software solutions
  • Familiar with Agile development
  • Familiar with requirements management tools, e.g., DOORS
  • Familiar with private cloud solutions and IT technologies such as:
  • VMWare
  • Nutanix
  • RedHat
  • Networking solution
Basic Qualifications:Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, such as Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics, from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a related STEM discipline with 6 years of experience (preferred); or a PhD in a related discipline with 4 years of experience is required
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
  • Must possess at least two of the items listed below skillsets:
  • C2BMC or similar complex DoD Command and Control (C2) system experience for over 2 years
  • Experience in developing new system architecture concepts and solutions
  • Work experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software, or Network fields on an integrated team collaborating with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions for a DoD program
  • Experience as a Technical Lead, Systems Engineering SME, or technical leader in Systems Engineering within the Missile Defense, Space, or Link 16 domains
  • Experience in:
  • Identifying and defining desired capabilities
  • Communicating these capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users
  • Creating architecture artifacts to document and track the achievement of the desired capabilities
  • Experience in developing system engineering and architecture artifacts:
  • Specifications
  • Interface Control Documents
  • Use Cases
  • System Architecture Descriptions
  • Trade Studies
  • Experience in preparing briefings, reviewing architecture designs and artifacts, and presenting at DoD Customer Design Reviews
  • Experience as a technical leader in a DoD Systems Engineering or Development project
  • Knowledge of DoD Cyber requirements, RMF, and related solutions
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps and/or Digital Engineering Transformation (DET) methodologies and solutions
  • Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Cameo tools
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Master's Degree in Systems Engineering is preferred
  • Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
  • Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
