- Coordinate and attend meetings with project staff, (in-person and virtual). Support meeting facilitation.
- Create and distribute meeting agendas; draft and circulate meeting minutes for review and confirmation.
- Interpret contracts and support the development of standard operating procedures and policy documents
- Provides support to the project management team or other teammates as needed
- Perform routine office as well as construction site engineering tasks to support the delivery of the project and maintenance of the document control system
- Review inspector's daily reports for completeness and conformance to contract requirements
- Manage Submittals and Request for Information (RFI's) and reports
- Responsible for accurate processing of submittals to ensure correct products and materials are installed throughout the project
- Ensures inspection staff have all updated plans and specifications throughout the project
- Maintains red line as-built plans and specifications
- Assists with contractor schedule reviews
- Verifies accuracy of force account and extra work bills
- Prepare various project status reports for client and funding partner review
- Assist in monitoring and reporting on contractor activities
- Assist in preparing routine reports on project progress
- Assist in training other teammates' junior office engineers and onboarding new project staff
- Assist other teammates with their job duties as workloads fluctuate
- In addition to all company policies, follow all established team, client, or project-specific policies and procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities or tasks as required by business, team, client, or project needs
- General understanding of procedures, and project policies to achieve set results and deadlines
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or other engineering-related field experience or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience (or equivalent working knowledge/experience)
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Be able to visit or work in the field on an active construction site including walking on uneven surfaces or around heavy machinery or equipment
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by RINA's company health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal support or oversight
- Ability to prioritize tasks to ensure critical tasks are completed timely and accurately
- Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft applications (Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), web conferencing hardware, setting up and operating computer peripherals, and video or photography equipment
- Ability to work efficiently individually and as part of a collaborative large team
- Previous experience working on an operating railroad or on transit/rail projects preferred. CTA a plus.
- Previous experience with Trimble Unity Construct (Formerly e-Builder) preferred
- Previous experience in a general contractor, subcontractor, or construction management role preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Flexibility to travel to project sites as needed
