Systems Administrator (Windows)Position Snapshot
The Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, performance, and security of all Windows-based infrastructure across a multi-site environment. This includes server hardware, core services like Active Directory, Exchange, and DNS, as well as mobile device management and tier 3 application support. The role supports both legacy systems and modern infrastructure initiatives aligned with the organization's long-term IT strategy.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
An individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.
  • Administers all Windows servers and core infrastructure services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file/print services. Ensures high availability, performance, scalability, and security across systems. Oversees system patching, backup and recovery processes, log monitoring, and vulnerability mitigation. Adheres to established change management and compliance frameworks. (30%)
  • Administers Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, and other enterprise tools, ensuring functionality, integration, and uptime. Manages server-based applications such as WSUS, IIS, and any additional monitoring or infrastructure tools. (30%)
  • Provides tier 3 technical support for Windows-based systems and enterprise applications, collaborating with help desk and operations teams to resolve complex issues. Documents root causes and contributes to internal knowledge bases and support playbooks to enable quicker issue resolution across tiers. (20%)
  • Manages and supports mobile devices (iPhones, iPads, etc.) using Mobile Device Management (MDM) tools. Ensures device compliance, security, and seamless user access to corporate resources. (10%)
  • Stays current on emerging technologies and best practices through research, training, and industry events. Recommends upgrades and enhancements based on evolving business needs and technology capabilities. (5%)
  • Works closely with the Service Desk and other Operations staff to analyze problems and provide solutions in areas where their positions overlap. (5%)
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Education and Experience
  • Professional, technical or administrative training (2-year Associate Degree) in Computer Science or related field, with a Bachelor’s Degree highly desirable.
  • A minimum of six (6) months’ work-related experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.
  • Working knowledge of components in a computer.
