The Assistant Editor will work closely with all AV staff, including Editors, Assistant Editors, Billing Manager, and Producers. They will complete the responsibilities described below as it relates to the AV Department. Currently, this position reports to the VP, AVRESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze and recommend new policies and workflow within the AV Division
  • Contribute to workflow efficiency and effective task delegation with Editorial and Assistant Editorial staff
  • Troubleshoot all technical issues
  • Transcoding all media to specific formats as detailed in the Standard Practices and Procedures manual
  • Sending cuts to clients via Wiredrive, FTP, Aspera, etc.
  • Organize media and workflow based on Standard Practices and Procedures, including EOD emails to billing listing all projects sent to client, all Fibers, and all finishes performed on any given day
  • Performing finishes and sending all necessary assets to finishers (AAF, EDL, XML, Graphics, Narration, etc)
  • Label and organize all physical assets (hard drives) as well as secure them in locked vault at night
  • Perform overcuts on trailers and spots
  • Cutting assemblies and pulling selects from dailies
  • Oversee and QC all finishes before they leave the building
  • Serve as main contact for finishers/vendors reaching out for assistant support
  • Prepping/transcoding spots/trailers for testing
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with video editing and workflows
  • Final Cut Pro 7 experience preferred
  • Experience with Machine Room operation: dub procedures, deck set up and general set up and maintenance
  • Knowledge and experience with equipment: SD/HD VTRs, rolling and dubbing, Digi Delivery (FTP) Patching and Edit Share
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Strict attention to detail
