My client is a family-owned, real estate partnership that owns and manages a diverse real estate portfolio of apartment communities and multi-tenant commercial properties, primarily in Southern California. The firm’s office is located in Downey, CA and has been in operation since 1964 and its 30 employees provide a wide range of real estate services, including leasing, property management, real estate financing and acquisitions/dispositions.They are seeking an Accounting Manager who will play a pivotal part in the day-to-day operations and help add meaningful structure, controls, and rigor to their financial operations.Key Responsibilities:- Work closely with management team to facilitate and execute company and project objectives- Assist with general accounting duties in AppFolio- Oversee AP/AR team, both onsite and third party- Oversee financial operations and ensure accuracy and efficiency- Creation of monthly operating reports and annual audit preparation with third party- Review of posted payments to invoices, owner’s distributions, and other transactions- Perform routine accounting functions, reconcile, and resolve discrepancies- Cash management reporting- HR interface, including employee onboarding, payroll and reports- Assist with special projects- Respond to and resolve issues and requests from Property Manager and Partners- Other accounting related tasks as assignedQualifications:- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or related field- 10+ years of real estate office accounting experience- Experience with Appfolio strongly preferred- Experience supervising accounting staff- Must possess meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, energetic work ethic, positive mindset and the ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.- Good written and verbal communication skills are necessaryBenefits:The Company offers a family friendly workplace and healthy work-life balance with limited remote working.
