The company is headquartered in Houston, Texas.We are looking for highly-motivated individuals who enjoy working as part of a team in a dynamic and entrepreneurial work environment.Plains is seeking a Pipeline Operator to work out of Long Beach, California. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, you will ensure accurate and safe transportation and storage of products through identified pipeline assets by operating and maintaining pipelines, tanks, pipeline pumping stations, LACTs and gathering facilities. You are a safety conscious worker who executes duties in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures as well as applicable codes of practice, regulations, and standards.Our successful candidate will be eligible for company benefits including medical / dental / prescription / vision, 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other programs.Responsibilities:
Oversee petroleum product movements in and out of pipeline pump stations, using tools and techniques to accurately assess, quantify and qualify crude oil and / or refined products
Assure safe storage of products and custody transfer activities with connecting carriers and customers
Routinely inspect pumps and valves for proper operation
Assure quality and accurate measurement of crude oil according to Plains procedures and reporting requirements
Perform monthly DOT tankage inspections and fire extinguisher inspections while maintaining associated records
Inspect perimeter fencing, locks, etc. to maintain proper facility, pipeline and ROW security; address and report any infractions.
Inspect and assure that routine and DOT compliance maintenance is performed on ROW, equipment and valves
Maintain communications with Pipeline Control Center
Witness meter proving and crude oil shipment from lease to delivery point and run pipeline pigs as needed
Perform other pipeline related tasks or projects as required and assigned
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must have pipeline knowledge and experience and ability to execute a wide range of pipeline responsibilities including pump station management and crude oil shipping responsibilities.
Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals.
Able to speak, read, and write English and perform basic math.
As job proficiency is attained, able to calculate fluid flow, determine and perform batch scheduling and coordinate related activities as well as use basic sampling equipment.
Organized and proficient in record keeping.
In possession of or able to successfully complete company Haz-Mat and required safety training; willing to complete additional required training and certifications and meet minimum DOT requirements.
Able to work alone and with minimal supervision as well as lift or carry up to 50 pounds, working, stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing and walking distances in all types of terrain.
Able to work outdoors in extremes of heat and cold.
Able to accommodate travel, overtime, and “on-call” rotation as required.
Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
Compliance with the company’s Drug & Alcohol Policy including pre-employment testing.
Valid state driver's license and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
Compensation:
The pay range for this role is $36.00 – $42.00 hourly, depending on relevant work experience and education.
