- Ensures patient, caregiver, and guest safety and satisfaction in accordance with existing principles and standards.
- Ensures provisions of high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic imaging services in an efficient manner.
- Promotes caregiver engagement and team initiatives.
- Maintains positive relationships within the department and facility, including other departments, radiologists, referring physicians, and customers.
- Verifies that clinics have sufficient materials, supplies, resources, etc. to perform daily MRIs.
- Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
- Performs MRI examinations per department protocol.
- Understands cross sectional anatomy and demonstrates anatomical positioning competency.
- Critiques own films.
- Completes studies within acceptable time limitations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination.
- In coordination with the radiologist, selects proper scanning techniques and protocols.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of protocol relating to contrast administration. As ordered by the physician and under radiologist or physician supervision administers intravenous contract material to patients.
- Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
- Understands and appropriately operates all MRI equipment and related information systems to ensure that quality images are produced.
- Exhibits understanding and proficiency with electronic imaging.
- Views, transfers, archives, and manipulates images.
- Exhibits a working knowledge of the MRI scanner. Troubleshoots when needed and understands the shutdown and start up procedures.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of the magnet, cryogens, gradient amplifiers, and all relevant computer hardware and software.
- Adheres to and understands MRI safety policies and procedures including the FOUR ZONE concept, the quench procedure, and proper MR magnet safety in an event of an emergency.
- Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.
- Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging, obtaining consents if necessary, documenting any events that may occur for quality.
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Radiology)
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (MRI) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) upon hire, or within 6 months of hire into this classification
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (CT) within twelve (12) months of hire into this classification
- Certified with the State of Washington Department of Health, Radiologic Technologist
- Health Care Provider level CPR certification
- Experience in a clinical setting required; preferably as a Radiology Tech or MRI Tech
