As a Laboratory Technician you will be responsible for performing laboratory testing to provide reliable and analytical services to Operations and customers in a timely manner.Essential Functions & Requirements:
- Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
- Completes material analysis to determine characteristics and waste profiles
- Makes determination of pH, screens for oxidizers, peroxides, cyanides, and sulfides, and identifies fuel and water compatibilities
- Determines heat of combustion (BTU value), total halogens and completes water analysis (by Karl Fischer), percent solids and paint-filter liquids
- Utilizes Company Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Performs compositing, packaging, organizing, and proper disposal of retain and other waste samples
- Stocks and organizes laboratory areas and storeroom with chemicals and laboratory supplies
- Performs instrument checks including refrigerators, balances, hoods, thermometers, and pipettes
- Utilizes and upholds good laboratory practices (e.g. QA/QC, documentation, maintenance/minor repairs, housekeeping, professionalism)
- Maintains ability to assist other laboratory shifts as needed
- Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
- High-school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Associates / bachelor's degree in a science related field (preferred)
- 2+ years of laboratory experience (required) -OR-
- In lieu of experience, an associates degree in a science related field (required)
- Environmental laboratory experience (preferred)
- Basic computer program knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent time management skills to complete work assignments to expectations
- Ability to utilize a hands-on approach to testing, training and performing equipment maintenance
- Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role
