- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company safety, health, and environmental programs, policies, and procedures
- Share leadership in site improvement efforts and the general management of the Tonawanda facility consistent with stated beliefs, values, and behavioral standards of the site.
- Lead plants efforts in compliance with the management system – ISO9001, FSSC220000.
- Help facilitate plants efforts in compliance with ISO/RC50001 management system.
- Coach and develop line supervisors/coordinators.
- To ensure that all work improves or maintains the overall safety and health impact of site.
- To take an active role in ensuring that the plant is continuously improve HSE performance.
- Participate in the overall coordination, management, and review of the quality process as a member of the Plant Leadership Team.
- Direct the activities of the Control Lab including verifying quality of reporting analytical information on raw materials, work in process and finished products, ensuring that all analyses and calibrations are performed by appropriate standards, evaluating methods for improving the quality and efficiency of laboratory services, and maintaining current/modified customer and raw material specification manuals in order to ensure that products satisfy and/or exceed Corporate standards, Governmental regulations, and customer specifications.
- Develops studies, new methods and suggestions directed toward improving lab/plant operations.
- Prepare monthly and annual summaries and trends.
- Effectively interact with the SAP business system, and to communicate special customer specifications with the warehouse and other plant personnel.
- Coordinate and lead new methods involving instruments or wet chemistry in order to ensure product quality meets Corporate and customer specifications.
- Develop and coordinate execution of in-house validation testing for newly developed analytical procedures.
- Manage and implement quality procedures for retesting out of specification material and quality related customer complaints.
- Maintain proper records and control of laboratory analyses and data.
- Develop and expand the department computer resources as needed to maximize informational and reporting capabilities.
- Knowledge of plant quality objectives and customer quality specifications is required.
- Manage the ISO9001, FSSC22000, and any future quality related systems. Represent the site as the program leader, lead the site in compliance to the standards, and interact with 3 party auditor to maintain a certified program.
- Interact with Sales personnel to ensure customer audits are represented, questionnaires are completed, official company statements are filled out, and complaints are answered all in a timely fashion.
- Manage the laboratory procedure system, product stability program, product release, auditing, GMP, test frequency determination, etc.
- Serve as a member of the Food Safety Team.
- Facilitate the plant Material Review Board (MBR)
- Ensure all products within the scope of the Food Safety System are tested and released according to the product specifications and test methods.
- Work closely with the Energy manager with regards to incorporating and managing ISO50001 as part of the plant Management System.
- Take on Plant Manager delegation when needed.
