The Blade continues to evolve and deliver credible, informative, and daily content both in print and digital formats.The Blade is looking for an energetic individual that is customer service focused, organized, and self-driven to fill the position of part-time Building Maintenance Mechanic.The Building Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for:
  • Performing routine and preventative maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of: HVAC systems, boilers, air handlers, pumps, motors, and associated auxiliary devices; electrical distribution systems and components including lighting, electrical panels, circuit breakers, switches, and receptacles; plumbing systems including maintenance and repair of pipes, pressure gages, regulators, sanitary fixtures.
  • Carpentry work including repairs to wood components and structures, furniture, doors, drywall, and windows, and performs painting as required.
  • Inspections, repairs and/or maintenance of roofing systems, building exteriors, sidewalks, parking lots, grounds, and grounds equipment.
  • Routine maintenance and repairs on other machinery and equipment and general maintenance of the building, grounds, etc.as needed.
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and testing systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with HVAC, chillers, boilers, towers, plumbing, roofing, and other areas of general building maintenance.
  • Ability to utilize PC for the operation of energy management systems.
  • Two years experience with skilled trades or facilities maintenance.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience with building controls (Metasys) a plus.
  • Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, and email.
  • Able to problem solve and organizational skills.
  • A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
This is a part-time role averaging 24 hours per week with additional hours/days to cover vacation or absences when needed.
