- Works to ensure a safe, compliant and efficient maintenance of their assigned Fleet, in accordance with company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Advises on maintenance events and requirements with Engineering, MCC, Workload Planning, Materials, Quality Control, and A/C Planning Departments . Including regular audits to ensure proper corrective actions are performed by maintenance technicians.
- Works with engineering team members to build strategies and proactively correct aircraft discrepancies.
- Organizes resources and technical support as necessary in cases of major mechanical problems and AOG events.
- Improve efficiency and reliability by analyzing recurring problems, training opportunities and recommending changes in procedures.
- Develop plans, instructions, and documents to comply with regulatory manuals and to resolve non-mandatory in-service issues
- Responsible for action plan development with Engineering on the overall reliability plan for the assigned fleet types.
- Coordinate with MCC and line stations on out of service/AOG recovery. Be available for consultation on technical aspects of maintenance and troubleshooting. Leverage technical information and review platforms constantly to plan proactive maintenance actions.
- Reviews completed action plans constantly for accuracy, and completeness and revises or closes in a prompt efficient manner.
- Continuous improvement of Maintenance Programs ensuring we close the loop on issues.
- Monitors mechanical problems, delays, and Chronic Item Program.
- Coordinates with Tech Support on corrective action plans for fleet mechanical problems and deferred maintenance items.
- Maintains liaison with Ground Operations and Flight Operations to ensure safe and dependable operations of the Fleet.
- Performs duties and responsibilities at field locations away from home base as assigned. Travels on or to company aircraft as assigned to support fleet maintenance operations around the world.
- Be familiar with the use of all technical manuals, Federal Regulations, and Company policies & procedures.
- Advise in the oversight of the day-to-day operation of fleet aircraft to help ensure dispatch reliability is met or exceeded.
- Coordinate with Materials Department to help ensure adequate spares and tooling are available to perform maintenance.
- Advise Maintenance Control on line maintenance projects and reliability improvements.
- Takes direction from assigned Fleet Manager in creating plans for improved safety and reliability. Advise Maintenance Planning any additional work requirements that may arise.
- Coordinate with Flight Operations on any information they may have regarding the aircraft or supporting programs.
- Coordinate with the Training Department on any specialized training requirements that may be identified.
- Attends planning meetings with Heavy Maintenance/Planning on assigned fleet aircraft.
- Review DDPG (MEL) Program for the Technical Operations Department. Works with Flight Operations to ensure maintenance procedures in DDPG encompass all requirements for deferring items safely and efficiently.
- Works with Engineering/Component Reliability on SOS program items and advises Fleet Manager.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent years of experience.
- Must hold a current and valid FM Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
- Must maintain Atlas Air qualification and authorization for Airworthiness Release.
- Minimum 5 years of experience on fleet aircraft or equivalent wide-body aircraft preferred with a high level of experience in aircraft systems.
- Demonstrates initiative and ability to manage assignments at above average level. Efficient at all aspects of assignments, including identifying and resolving almost all technical issues.
- Previous project/fleet management experience preferred.
